Tillfälligt stängt

Under tiden för ombyggnaden av museet kommer forskarservicen till arkiv och bibliotek att vara begränsad. Det innebär att vi inte kan ta emot besök av forskare som vill sitta på plats för att ta del av arkivmaterial, eller läsa referenslitteratur i biblioteket. Vi tar fortsatt emot frågor och hjälper till i den mån vi hinner vid rådgivning och informationssökning. I samband med ombyggnaden flyttar biblioteket ner till entréplan och ett nytt mer publikt läge.

Documents

In the archives there is information about your local environs and you can discover more about Värmland’s artists and cultural history. There are also folklore narratives, letters, postcard collections, albums, photographs and other documents such as music records, plans and drawings, sketches and diaries. Also, topographic archives, concerning cultural heritage and archeology.
The theme archives have collected a rich material over the years. They encompass Finnish settlers, traditional craftsmanship, social structures, schools, children’s drawings, holidays, celebrations and traditions in the form of narratives, newspaper cuttings, and photocopies. Throughout the years the museum has also received private documents, estate records, company archives and other collections.

You can use the museum’s reading room facilities to explore material at your leisure. Documents are not available for borrowing. Certain documents can be protected according to the Official Secrets Act.
If you wish to visit our archives please contact our archivist. Explain what you are looking for in advance and we will do our best to see you get the most out of your visit.

Libary

Our library serves as a reference library for museum personal and the interested general public. The principal areas are archeology, building preservation, heritage, history, ethnology, art and art history, museology, and literature from Värmland. There are also publications on the same disciplines and most other museum annuals. The book collection has grown through the years by acquisitions and donations. You are welcome to come and read in our pleasant library, but unfortunately books or documents cannot be borrowed. We have five seats for reading and research.

We are keen to receive newly published books, articles and papers which aid us in describing Värmland.
