WORKSHOP
Artisans at work
Arvika Konsthantverk is the country’s oldest arts and crafts cooperative and was founded 100 years ago.
The members today, as from the start, work in numerous techniques and different materials – ceramics, textiles, wood, forging, leather, glass and brush binding. Usually, the artisan’s finished product is in focus at exhibitions, but here the process is highlighted instead, the work itself in the workshop. How does it work? Who is this artisan? What does everyday life look like? What tools are used? Will the artisan remain in the future? The exhibition presents the everyday lives of artisans through photographs and interviews created during a documentation project that has been going on for the past three years. But here you can also meet a living artisan at work every week.
