The apple orchard

The von Echstedtska manor is a local clonarchive for apple varieties in Värmland and part of the national gene bank for the preservation of cultivated diversity. There are a total of 26 different apple varieties with origins from or connections to Värmland – the region where our country’s perhaps foremost pomologist Carl G. Dahl spent his childhood.

Twenty of the orchard’s varieties are mandate apples. In addition, the cherry variety ‘Fryksås’ is grown and preserved. The clone archives in Sweden are coordinated by the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, SLU.

Would you like to order an apple tree from the clone archive? If you place an order this year, the tree will be grafted next year – with delivery in two years at the earliest. Price 595SEK. Orders can be made directly on site or by emailing vone@varmlandsmuseum.se
