Phone guides
The Värmlands Museum app offers a digital guide to the Sjutorp hiking trail and the Finn settlements nearby. In addition, the app has further information on the Finnish Settlement Centre and the history of the Forest Finns. The app is freely available for download.
The Karmenpolku hiking trail
Between the Finnish Settlement Centre and Karmenkynna is the Karmenpolku hiking trail. The name means “the snake path”, which is apt, as it winds like a snake through the landscape. The path is one kilometre in length, and takes you through a number of old Finn settlements. Along the way are information boards about what you once could and still might come across in the forest. Every Wednesday starting at 11 at Torsby Finnish Settlement Centre, we offer a guided tour of the trail, but you are free to walk it on your own, too.
The guided hike will take approx. 1 hour. Pre-book tickets here.
