Welcome to the Långban Mining Village

Welcome to Långban – more rich in minerals than almost any other place in the world. A fascinating environment where new life is brought to industrial historic buildings, and the surrounding nature offers rare orchids, towering ore piles and lakes as smooth as mirrors.

The history of this place began some 1.8 billion years ago, when so many minerals were formed here, but it would not be until the 16th century that iron ore was first mined in this place. In the early 1970s, the mining ended for good. The mining village, on the other hand, is still very much alive with its buildings, mineral collections, exhibitions, scenic nature, exciting stories and memories that date back to the beginning of time itself. Visitors will find a wealth of activities here, in an exciting cultural setting.
